Petroglyph hike

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hiking and entertaining friends Karen and Matt Charatan. We hiked up to Hieroglyphic Canyon. Petroglyphs dating from the Hohokam habitation from around 700 to 1100 AD make for a fascinating destination.
The trail is just behind our house so we do this several times a week when the weather is good (not hot). It has a nice little elevation rise and is terrific exercise on the way up.

Matt ran into a little trouble shortly after the hike started....Those pesky "jumping chollas" get everyone sooner or later. We all commented on Matt's nice job of color coordinating. The little pups must have taken him for one of their own.......
