While waiting for some gesso to dry and set up in the art room, I have been playing with more designs.
The above Art Nouveau motif started as a doodle last night while watching the Red Sox blast on to game 7....
Below was a very small D that I just enhanced and multiplied in Photoshop. It was really teeny which is why when enlarged it is pretty pixilated. Most of the designs were done with a pigma pen...smallest size and are very small.
I did the podlike design at bottom a couple of months ago but decided that I had OD'd on the doodle thing so I put it aside until I was ready to work on it again.
While construction work is being done in the basement, I've been playing more on the computer and with small pen designs ..needing some outlet for my art. Sometimes frustrated by it all and wondering if I have been wasting my time, I now realize, at summer's end, that the stuff that I've been working on here is translating in surprising ways on the real deal in the studio and I'm excited about that.

Vicky, these are very nice designs you are creating. It's nice to see someone doing art, and I think it's just a matter of time before you see these things appear in other artwork. The more you work at it, the better it gets, and makes your art even more unique. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, just finished reading your blog..... these doodles you do are lovely. I don't understand what all is taking place in them... can you show a section of detail. Also.. can you explain some of the how's of the metalic paintings you do. I use to use some hot glue on watercolor paper then use the gold leaf one the hot glue... is your technique similar? Lovely, very lovely work.

I can post the original drawing with a little description of the steps I take when I transform in photoshop in a later post but it may have to wait a day or two since I have company in this weekend...
Re: metallic. No glue gun. Most of the layered work is done either in gesso, then cut out and gilded. I only use real gold or silver. I have several formulas for gessos that give a very raised but flowing gesture. I'm working out other ideas too using papers and wood.

Yesterday was a great day in the fact that I went to a locally owned gallery and found an artists work who inspired me. She had done some things that were a little different ... not the norm. Some watercolors, some oils, but I found it interesting. Then to find your blog ... with numerous exciting things...wonderful!
I am an artist who needs artistic people around me ... fuel the fires, so to speak. Yes, please do link me ... but unfortunately this blogging stuff is way over my head - even with BLOGGING TIPS - it goes over my head ... so for the time being I can't reciprocate. Welll, thats not true. I will link you in a blog post ... that I can do.
