Here you can see the gesso flourishes before gilding with a water based size. I have cut out the flourishes with exacto ...The bottom photo shows the gold flourish that has been done on the silicone coating. You get a much cleaner edge. They have to be done on a perfect surface...too much tooth and you get a jagged edge. Too little and it pools and doesn't "catch"...too loose (as in silicone paper) and it just buckles and spreads. Lots of tryouts here and still in the experimental phases but I am really liking these baking sheets so far.
Some of the backgrounds are brass sheet that has been patinated and transferred to paper.
