Fairy Dusters




The Fairy dusters are out at the Desert Botanical Garden here. The intense red of the Baja fairy duster (Calliandra californicus) is stunning and a magnet for our many species of hummingbirds.

Below is the desert Fairy duster (Calliandra eriophyllum) ..a beautiful smoky pink color.
Before they fully blossom, the small buds make a beautiful cluster.

Are these photos with a macro setting? They are turning out so well! We just got a new 6 inches of snow here.

Yes, on macro. THe 640 is supposed to get up to 1cm. Having some trouble with it today though.

Yay on the snow!
I really want to go skiing.
